WAVES

Continually depicting the natural world, Griegst brings a new and highly articulated language in the late 1990's to an ongoing fascination of the ocean.

The symbolism is undeniable: the dynamic, tempestuous ocean mirroring the ever-changing human condition and fascination with transformation found across Griegst’s work.

SPIRALS

During the 1970’s, Griegst took the melting gold theme in a groundbreaking new direction, using a special technique to capture gold mid-transformation. After researching, Griegst developed a personal wax mixture to enable the swish, energetic movement and sensuality in the ribbed texture that became the Spirals.

SWIRLING WAVE RING

The swell of the sea, its rhythmical waves and stormy surge inspires the articulated, concave formations of the Wave series. This Swirling Wave Ring carries a cabochon-cut sapphire resting gently atop the waves.

SPIRAL COLLIER NO. 2

The Spiral Collier No. 2, first known as the Wave Collier in 1990, consists of 13 links. The waves unfold themselves into golden bands and appear seductively light. It is as if the surging water itself has given them their form.

SPIRAL RING NO. 6

A Spiral Ring rests atop dimpled rocks. Like locks of golden hair the fluted gold twist and writhes over the skin like a coil spring with seductive lightness.

BIG WAVE RING

The Big Wave Ring is pavéed with diamonds recalling the white foam of the sea in sunlight. The gold is carved with dimples, as rhythmic, asymmetrical waves in a bulging sea.
