SPIRAL BRACELET No. 9

Created in the early seventies, Arje Griegst turned gold into quivering and ribbed lines. At once organic and stylized, the Spiral collection is hypnotic in its fluidity and warm glow, like locks of golden hair.

SPIRAL HISTORY

”In the master’s hand the gold comes alive for the marvellous material it is. No one can get the gold to speak like Arje Griegst. Not merely that it always glitters, but gold as a marvellous malleable material with many hues; soft, warm and organic.” – The Bank of Denmark Jubilee Foundation’s Honorary Grant, 1999

SPIRAL BRACELETS, SPIRAL RING NO. 3 & TRUMPET KNOT RING.

A remarkable preoccupation with materials characterises Arje Griegst’s work. He would spend relentless months experimenting in order to achieve harmony between the gold and the stones. He made aesthetic demands.

PORCELAIN BOWL AND SPIRAL CANDLESTICK.
"Drops in the glazes, twinkling, ocean-like,
and beneath them is the golden light"

- a poem written in the Danish newspaper Politiken referring to Arje's porcelain series. The candlestick Spiral that stands beautifully in front was created parallel with the Spiral rings and bracelets.

An 18K gold spiral bracelet titled ‘Spiral Bracelet No. 9’ from the early 1970s made in Denmark by fine jewellery designer Arje Griegst. The cuff bracelet is made from wavy, ribbed gold that forms a large, oversize open coil spiral on top, resembling an antique piece of Roman jewellery re-imagined for today. The cuff bracelet sits on top of a small sky blue sculptural piece resembling a fossil formation, placed on a white backdrop.
