bronze candlesticks
Arje Griegst spent several periods throughout his career at the Bel Fiore bronze foundry in Pietrasanta, Italy working on objects in bronze. Using the same self-invented cire perdue technique as in his Spiral series and other jewellery, he conjured bronze candlesticks and candelabras from the 1960s onwards.
CANDLESTICK NO. 1
Candlestick No. 1 was the first bronze candelabra Arje designed, created and casted in Verona, Italy in 1963.
candlestick No. 5
Forming a natural extension of Arje Griegst’s expressive language, bronze candlesticks are transformed into dramatic centrepiece works that showcase the artist’s dynamic and sensual art forms.
candlestick no. 5
The organically shaped candlesticks can partly be seen as the beginning of the dynamic and sculptural large scale work that followed Arje's occupation later in his life.
DOUBLE STARDUST RING
In the early 1990s Arje Griegst returned to his lifelong fascination of the universe and created the Cosmos and Stardust series. Each work looks as if the gold has been bombarded by showers of meteorites or distant asteroids, luring us with craters filled with precious stones and gems. 18K yellow gold ring with 13 Top Wesselton VVS diamonds (F-G colour) Made in Denmark
HEAVENS FACES
The word metamorphosis has Greek roots meaning transformation, a subject that the Roman poet Ovid explored in his book Metamorphoses (8 AD). Weaving together Greek and Roman fairytales, stories and myths, Ovid’s tales of people turning into animals, plants and stones has been a recurring companion for Arje Griegst, most notably seen in his Faces series.
